Oak Garden’s History

February 11, 2007, 157 seekers of truth stepped out on faith and met with Pastor Paul Day and his family at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Duncanville, Texas. Fueled by a burning desire to think differently about the possibilities of salvation and to become closer to the word of God the story began for Oak Gardens Church. Anchored in this authentic desire for truth and empowerment, the church’s membership grew and its true mission began to manifest; invest in our youth and become a beacon of love and outreach to the community.

In 2010, guided by a burning desire to align with the word of God and the countless examples of his grace, the Oak Gardens body of believers were blessed to purchase a church home at 4008 S. Polk St. The initial phase of construction consisted of the construction of an auditorium, fellowship hall and pastor’s study. The second phase, immediately thereafter, was focused on the development of a state of the art children’s/youth wing and the third phase emphasized the church’s emphasis on social interactions and the pursuit of knowledge with a cafe and bookstore.

To date, the church has grown to nearly 1,600 members and two services that emphasize a personal relationship with our savior. Community outreach through service and love has become a cornerstone characteristic of the church. Each year we sponsor a “Back to School Shoe Drive” in August, community car washes, movie nights, free concerts and a food pantry which is open every third Wednesday of the month.

As 2019 comes to a close, we are very excited to enter our next phase of spiritual and physical growth. In 2020, construction will begin on the new chapel, gymnasium, additional classrooms and there are plans to expand our current sanctuary. We have also purchased two acres of land behind our building to create a community garden to address the food desert in our community and a new playground for the children. In addition to the new construction, we have created new ministries for single mothers and young adults.

We are also very excited about the new church property that we have acquired in Ellis County, Texas. This is a great opportunity to spread God’s word, share his grace and express his love.

We invite any and everyone to join us on this journey. as we work every day to become better than we were yesterday in pursuit of God’s inspiration and grace, anchored in the courageous dream of those 157 seekers of truth, that came together on February 11, 2011 to do God’s will.
